Andrew Slackta
To be a painter is to be a steward of imagination, a student of careful observation and the owner of many clothes with paint stains…..
I began ruining my clothes and experimenting with oil painting in the beginning of 2010. Since then I have devoted myself to the study and practice of various oil painting techniques and styles. My paintings over the past year are a reflection of my journey as an oil painter and my drive to expand my repertoire. Creating and sharing art has been a lifelong dream of mine and it is through painting that I feel that I have finally found my voice.
I find beauty and inspiration in everything: The warm/cool color contrast in a sunset, the way a lit candle glows or even in the random carbon build up on an old burnt cookie sheet. A painting has the ability to capture and emphasize the visual beauty of an object or instant in the most personal way. I try to use this ability to full advantage and encourage the viewer to pause, reflect and appreciate the subtle beauty that surrounds us.
